Faith Formation

St. Mary's has incredibly vibrant Youth and Faith Formation programs. With energetic volunteers and dedicated leaders, our younger parishioners experience a rich faith journey and share in worship with many other school-aged Catholics. From informative CCD classes to fun Christmas caroling to life-changing mission trips, the activities create a strong foundation in their ongoing relationship wtih our Savior.

Religious Education Classes

Kindergarten, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade
All non-Sacrament preparation classes (Kinder, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades) will meet on Sundays from 10:15am-11:45am in the SMS Elementary building. 

1st Communion Classes - 1st and 2nd Grade
1st and 2nd Grade Communion Classes will meet after the 10am Mass on Sundays from 11:15am-12:30pm.

1st Communion Class - 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade
If you child is in 3^rd, 4^th, or 5^th Grade, has not received 1^st Communion, and was in Religious Education Classes last year (2020-2021 academic year), then your child will be in the 3^rd, 4^th, 5^th Grade Communion Class which is held on Sundays from 10:15am-11:45am.

Classes for unbaptized children over the age of 7- RCIC
RCIC is the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) adapted for children and will meet every Wednesday at 6pm in the Holy Family Center. 

Confirmation classes - 10th and 11th Grade
 Confirmation is a two year program which begins in the 10^th grade and is finished in the 11^th grade. Classes are every Sunday from 5-7PM in the Holy Family Center. 

Junior High Edge Program - Grades 5-8
Edge, Our middle school youth group, is the same format as Life Teen but at a junior high level, Edge will now be held on Tuesdays from 5:30-7pm in the Holy Family Center. The first day will be in September. It is open to all students grades 5-8. If you have any questions about the Edge program at St. Mary's, please contact Alexius Ohaeri at 830-997-9523. Life Teen - High School
Life Teen is our High School Youth group and is open to grades 9-12. It is held Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m beginning on September 11 ,2024.  If you have any questions about the Life Teen program at St. Mary's, please contact Alexius Ohaeri at 830-997-9523. Catechists Needed!
The Religious Education program is in need of assistant and substitute teachers for Elementary and Confirmation Religious Education. Substitutes would be called upon only during those times when a Religious Education Catechist cannot attend a class. Catechists and Substitutes must be practicing Catholics in good standing who will abide by the teachings of the Catholic Church.
