Classes and programs for the youth of St. Mary’s Parish have been finalized for the fall of 2016.
Following is an overview of opportunities for religious education and youth programs for your children. Children attending St. Mary’s School, of course, will have their regular religion classes.
K through grade 5
Classes will be held Wednesday evenings in the elementary school.
These classes will have the same format as previously taught on Sunday. Class will be one hour and 15 minutes starting at 6:30 p.m. - 7:45 p.m.
Junior High Edge Program - Grades 6-8
Classes will be held Wednesday evenings. The Edge program is the same format as Life Teen but at a junior high level. Classes will be from 6:30 - 8 p.m.
Life Teen - High School
Life Teen will be held Sunday evening from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Confirmation class will be held at the same time as LifeTeen from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.
The Life Teen time was changed from 6:30 p.m. based on information received from a parent survey and after consultation with the Faith Formation Council. The majority of survey results indicated that a 4 p.m. time slot would allow students to have both family time and study time on Sunday evening.
Other times were discussed but at this time the 4 p.m. time slot is the best option.
Registration for religious education begins the first week of August.
During the summer, Life Teen and Edge summer camps will be available and mission trips will also be planned for both groups — Edge and Life Teen.
Religious education director Diana Akroush has utilized these programs at other parishes and they have been well received. Diana can be reached at 830-997-9523, extension 30 for questions about the program. Volunteers are welcome!!
